[vsnet-chat 5651] Re: [icwg] Simonsen charts -V384 Sco

Dear Mati,

The typo has been fixed, and I have restated the range of the nova on the
chart.
The star formerly used as 129 comp is now identified as V557 Sgr and I have
indicated V563 on the chart as well.
The revised chart has been uploaded to the site.
Thank you for this valuable information.

A quick note to all about the 'provisional charts' on the website.

Many of them are for southern fields. The rest are for other stars that
currently do not have reliable photometric sequences. They are not based on
Henden photometry, and as such do not have corresponding sequence files in
text format. They were therefore not scrutinized by the chart team in the
manner the Henden and SDSS charts were. Basically, because there is very
little to check them against.

The only other correction to the charts since 2001, from my recollection, is
the position of SY Vol, based on an outburst detection by Rod Stubbings and
an image supplied by Berto Monard. So there may be other details that have
escaped the handful of people who have actually looked at these charts. If
you discover any other errors please let us know and we will make the
corrections in a timely manner.

It is our hope to one day have no need for this provisional chart page. We
encourage observers with the ability to do PEP or CCD photometry of these
fields to do so. We will gladly take on the task of turning those results
into charts for variable star observers.

Regards,
Mike Simonsen
