     So where do the magnitudes come from that are used on the chart?
As far as I know there is no published V-band photometry for faint stars
in this field.  Did you measure the stars yourself?
     Finding threshold magnitudes in fields with bright stars is quite
difficult because of the glare and scattered light (in most telescopes and
in most eyes) from the bright star(s).  The Pleiades field you mention
has the same problem.
     You might have a look at the deep sequence around M57 by Henden that
was published in an article I prepared in the September 2001 issue of 
"Sky & Telescope", page 102.  That sequence goes down to nearly mag. 20,
and has no interfering field stars.
