[vsnet-chat 5304] Re: About V838 Mon

Hi Thorsten,

I don't know about the dustring, but I noticed some kind of nebula
(about one arcminute in diameter) around the star last night. This
nebula I haven't noticed before, probably because the star was so bright
and because it was the first time I used a high magnification to
estimate V838 Mon. This nebula made it difficult to estimate the
brightness of V8383 Mon last night. As the estimated diameter is so big,
I don't think it has to with the 2002 outburst. Perhaps this nebula has
to do with material lost earlier by this star, which is now iluminated
by V838 Mon.
