> Below are the GCVS positional errors I uncovered while doing the latest > AAVSO EB charts. Note that there are very good charts of EBs created in B.R.N.O. available through http://astro.sci.muni.cz/mapky/brno/ Identifications of spurious cases are based on surveys by Jan Manek at Sonneberg observatory and/or visually observed minima and/or finding charts from discovery literature. Famous example is V728 Her. GCVS position for this star points almost exactly to GSC 3081 0571, but the real variable is about one mag. brighter GSC 3081 0676 as shown on the B.R.N.O. chart. This is confirmed by CCD observations of some guys from around here. Best regards, Ondrej Pejcha P.S: The list of Mike Simonsen contains one error: GSC number of FL Ori is identical to that of SS Cet. GSC number of real FL Ori (B.R.N.O. chart) is 4755 1282. > I list the star name, it's correct position J2000 (noted relative to the > GCVS position) > and the corresponding GSC number (if available) for the correct star. > > I will send along the RR Lyr and CV notes as soon as I can. > > I was wondering who to send this information to.
