Greetings
During a visual nova search, I came across the star GSC 6870 1665 located at the following position: RA 18h 40m 31.07s Dec -29d 52m 52.4s It is included in the Tycho 2 catalogue with a Johnson V mag of 9.16 (B-V = 0.058). It is distinctly brighter than this at the moment. I made a visual estimate as 7.8 on Feb 22.85 UT using nearby Tycho-2 mag Johnson V mag stars. It is not listed in either the GCVS or NSV catalogues. I was wondering whether anyone could shed ideas as to whether it has been included in any other catalogues as a listed variable. Regards Andrew Pearce Western Australia |
