Hi Stan and interestees,
I recently estimated eta Car around 15.8v, which is well outside the
observsation of other observers. But then I used some magnification to
sort out the homunculus.
By doing this I got the reverse effect as compared to the binocular
observers.
While they add the photons from the homunculus, I actually subtract
them due to the reduced contrast of eta with its background.
If we could remove the homunculus eta Car would be estimated around
15.4 or so...
what do you think?
Regards,
Berto
PS sorry to hear about Gary Nankivell
