[vsnet-chat 4984] Eta Carinae bright?

I usually ignore an unconfirmed brightening report, but 
I've got just about enough emails today on this topic:

A simple question. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS RESULT?

It's been almost over 20 hours now and since no one
else reported the brightening, I'm guessing no one
could verify it (and it ain't a supernova yet).
