Feh!
Right, it seems that Name List 76 has format differences from the ftp
sourced latest GCVS, such as there being no need for a preceding 0 when
looking for an object such as V435 Lac for example [it'd have to be V0435
Lac in the GCVS version].
A further complication is that whilst the GCVS file has returned to using
'<' to denote less than, the Name List 76 text file has re-returned to
using '(' to denote less than in the case of minimum magnitude. Not
realising this at first I loused up the conditionals in the TDF... ...ie I
flagged magnitudes beginning with ( as being amplitudes, which is true,
except amplitudes also end with a ')' , and less than minimum mags also
begin with '(', and growl... In the GCVS version there is no problem due
to use of < and ( for the different types of magnitude, etc, &c...
...anyway, pasted below is a corrected TDF which allows for this and
another vagary or two.
Note also that there are two other additional lines in this version of the
tdf that will read a notes file of cross identifications [_if_ it exists].
Guide TDF language encodes notes files in a special way, but basically if
IBVS 5135's table 2 ascii file, ie 5135-T2.TXT, is taken into a text editor
and converted such that what normally reads as:-
>V414 And = Name |LD 321
>V414 And = IRAS |00070+3730
>V414 And = GSC |2781.01738
>V415 And = Name |LD 335
>V415 And = IRAS |00479+4614
>V416 And = Name |LD 338
>V416 And = IRAS |01076+4450
>V416 And = GSC |3264.00924
...
>V422 Vul = Name |Had V18
>V422 Vul = IRAS |21030+2642
then reads as:-
>~V414 And
>LD 321
>~V414 And
>IRAS 00070+3730
>~V414 And
>GSC 2781.01738
>~V415 And
>LD 335
>~V415 And
>IRAS 00479+4614
>~V416 And
>LD 338
>~V416 And
>IRAS 01076+4450
>~V416 And
>GSC 3264.00924
...
>~V422 Vul
>Had V18
>~V422 Vul
>IRAS 21030+2642
[ignore/remove all '>' characters] and is saved in the Guide directory as
the file nl76xID.not , then cross identification information will appear in
More Info.
Conversion from one format to the other is simple enough in a text editor
or word processor using global search and replace [hint, find out the code
for carriage return and replace each carriage return with a
carriage_return~ combination for example, similarly replace each occurrence
of = with a carriage_return code].
Data file sources and word wrap worries are as per my previous mail. Cut
and paste the following to a Guide directory as nl76.tdf after globally
removing all ! characters and ensure 5135-T1.TXT is also in that directory.
Cheers
John
