Yamaoka-san reported a faint star near the proper
position with Bmag=20, Rmag=17.5; Liller's spectroscopy
indicates reddening. This would imply that the progenitor
would be pretty bright in the infrared. Yet Taichi
has searched 2MASS and finds no corresponding IR source.
This doesn't make immediate sense.
The nova is below our hardware limit of -32 on the
1.0m telescope, so I will not be getting any field
photometry for this object, and our monsoon is starting
early anyway. It sounds like a good
field for one of the southern observers to calibrate!
