Close re-examination of 3 red survey plates obtained via the USNO NOFS CRFA
online facility suggests that there is indeed an LPV like object a couple
of arcsecs North of the MisV0380 position.
Whether this is the same as the MSX5C object it is not clear, as there
appear to be two or three candidate LPVs within half an arcmin, at least!
It is difficult to tell as only 2 of the red plates use the same film and
filters, and exposure lengths appear to very between all three, as
evidenced by evidently constant stars on the same plate. I had thoght I'd
checked all the IR catalogs via Vizier, but evidently I'd not used it
properly as I detected no MSX candidate.
The MISAO position is very accurate yet does not quite tally with the
position on the images but the Law of Parsimony favours this LPV being
MisV0380.
This is a very crowded field with blurred images from several overlapping
stars. Only further observation of this star can resolve the matter for
certain.
Cheers
