It seems that during the recent problems with the vsnet server a post I
sent re MISAO stars has gotten lost.
Fortunately Mike Simonsen appears to have put a note in vsnet-chat 4517
with respect to it.
For people wanting something different in their observing, or a little long
term project, or maybe just a bit fed up with CVs (oh! sacrilegious
comment!!!) these sorts of stars are can be very interesting.
Most are LPVs of one sort or another, and there are quite a few objects
spread over the sky.
With such objects an observer could be the first person to quantify and
qualify exactly what a star is in terms of behaviour, mag range, period
etc, simply by following one of these objects for a few years. Added
incentive would be that they were the first person to actually ever know
anything about the star in question, over and above whether any sort of
publication ever arose or not.
Other similar lists, such as those for the Takamizawa, Haseda, TA or TASS
variables, can be used similarly.
Cheers
