Not a direct answer re confirmation, but the abstract of the discovery
paper suggests you should pick up some low amplitude variation if you
measure it regularly, possibly only just though, depending on serious
Sirius interference [I don't know the field, but I believe Sirius is _very_
close]. Unfortunately Ap&SS papers aren't fully archived at ADS. ?I
suppose if it was a discovery incidental to observations of HL CMa the
people involved may not have been all that familiar with flare stars?
