Dear All,
the story with AY Dra began a year ago when it was selected
as a neglected SRV for MEDUZA observing programme. According
to GCVS, AY Dra is a SRa with range 10.6 to 12. 6 mag
photographically and period of 263 days.
Last year, MEDUZA group started regular observations and
caught a maximum at JD 2451750 (peaking at 10.9 mag). Then
the star started to fade very rapidly and after three month
since maximum, it faded below 14.0 mag. The rate of decrease
suggests very deep minimum, maybe as faint as mag 16.
Recently, about one GCVS period after last maximum, AY Dra
has been reported bright again. The yesterday's observations
by DPV suggest that the decline has started. We are planning
to conduct both CCD and visual monitoring to determine the
exact value of minimum brightness. However, we need more
accurate magnitudes of comparisons than GSC and USNO. Can
anyone help?
Best regards,
