Stars of "large" proper motion are traditionally defined as those with
motion of 0".2 per year or greater. In the north (say down to -20 Dec),
these are probably nearly completely inventoried down to mag. 16 or 17,
well beyond the Hipparcos target-list limits. This was mainly done by
Luyten and at Lowell Observatory. Farther south things are less complete,
perhaps complete to only mag. 13 or so (again by Luyten), but many areas
have been re-examined by a group in Chile.
All the Luyten and Lowell motion stars are included in SIMBAD, and so
should be identifiable by a search on position.
