Dear Colleagues, Taichi Kato wrote: > > Our first inspection of the CCD images tonight shows the object more > closer to the following USNO star (also pointed out by Rod Stubbings). > > USNO0600.03989187 073756.871 -255658.78 (2000.0) 14.2 14.1 I'm not able to identify this star on USNO A2.0 (no entry like this around the suspetc position). As I said earlier, a good USNO A2.0 progenitor candidate (if this actually is a nova) is A0600.06937901; is, the entry above, related to a different USNO catalogue (A1.0, SA, AC2000...)? Please note also that there is some difference in coordinates between A0600.06937901 (which I indicate to be the probable progenitor) and USNO0600.03989187. So, it could be interesting to know if the star reported by Dr. Kato comes from a different USNO catalogue. Maybe these stars are the same. Please also note that USNO A2.0 gives for the probable candidates the following mags: Mag: 13.8 (Blue) 13.2 (Red), with B-V=0.6 Regards, Gianluca -- *********************************************************************** * Gianluca Masi "Two things fill the soul * * Via Madonna de Loco, 47 with awe and reverence [...]: * * 03023 Ceccano (FR) the starry sky above me and * * ITALY the moral law within me" * * e-mail: gianmasi@fr.flashnet.it * * web: http://vsnet.eurolink.it/comets/ I.
