Subject: [vsnet-chat 0] myself

I will introduce myself. My name is Wolfgang Quester. Since 1955 I am member=

of the BAV. I live in Esslingen in the German state of Baden-W=C3=BCrttember=
g,
southwest Germany. The location is at E 9=C2=B021=E2=80=9912" N 48=C2=B043=
=E2=80=9942", 280 m above
sea level. My instrumentation is a Vixen 20 cm Cassegrain VC200L plus SBIG
ST-7E with FW-8 filter wheel. The wheel is equipped with BVRI filters (5 mm)=

according to BESSELL [2]. The no. 1 position of the wheel holds a clear glas=
s
of 5 mm thickness. This "filter" is used for focussing and fine adjustment o=
f
the field of view to include the variable and comparison stars and also for
"unfiltered" observations. The original focal length of the telescope (180
cm, f/9) is shortened with a focal reducer to f/6.4. This gives a field of
view of about 12=E2=80=99 X 18=E2=80=99.

My observing programme consists of eclipsing variables and RR-Lyrae stars o=
f
the BAV programme. Most of these stars are in the range of 11 mag < star < 1=
3
mag. Standard exposure time is 60 seconds with V filter. Single observations=

have an rms error of =C2=B10.01 to =C2=B10.03 mag depending on local weather=
 and
faintness of the stars. On a few occasions I observed the Mira BP Gem at V ~=

15. Adding up several exposures, exposure times were 4 to 5 minutes and the
rms error was about =C2=B10.1 mag thus equalling visual estimates.
