[vsnet-chat 3704] re del Vel = eb

Good morning all [or whatever the diurnality is where you are]

Congratulations to Sebastian on hard results from a solid and rigorous
observing routine.

delta Velorum, one of the bright naked eye jobs, turns out to be an unknown
eclipser!

This is the result of constant and dedicated observation with an exotic and
not entirely fully used piece of astronomical equipment known as the
"eyeball".

When I step out t'back and stare at the sky sometimes, I always give Algol,
Sheliak, eta Aql and del Cep a glance [if they're "up"], and the past shows
that to those that know the sky a naked eye "new star" will stand out easy
enough... ...but this is summat else!

Maybe we all ought to glance a bit harder...?
