I guess I just don't understand the paranoia and griping about attachments.
What is it that sets people off about this? Is it fear of viruses or
download time or what?
Having a chart for a CV that is currently in outburst magically show up in
my mailbox is like finding a present under the tree on Christmas morning. I
tried to piece one together last night and gave up because I couldn't come
up with an acceptable sequence. Here we have an expert putting together
sequences from the best photometry going, drawing up charts and sending them
to us for free and instead of thanking him the first response is negative.
If you don't trust attachments delete the message before you open it or run
it through your virus checker. How much effort is that? As for sending it to
*another* vsnet list, it was sent to vsnet-sequence. Unfortunately, many of
the observers who actually make observations of these stars have
unsubscribed to everything but obs, chat, outburst and alert out of
frustration with the heavy traffic the other lists created. So now chat,
alert or outburst is the only way to reach them.
I'm not sure there is a way to make everyone happy, but for God's sake let's
not make another vsnet-whatever list!
