Until you get to around K5/M0, B-V and V-I have similar values. Redder
than that, B-V stays roughly constant, while V-I keeps increasing.
The best color-to-color conversions are those of Caldwell et al., which
were published in the SAAO Circulars, no. 15, page 1 (1993). They are
complicated polynomials, and I have several of them for BVRI colors in
FORTRAN code if that helps. Write me separately if you want them.
