> Apologies to all,
Please don't be discouraged. We, VSNET group, have no objections to
posting suspected sightings. There are a quite few number of cases when
such suspected sightings would be confirmed by powerful instruments, which
can lead to rapid follow-up information. This is particularly true for
faint CVs with rare outbursts (like V592 Her and EG Cnc); otherwise the
whole community could miss the chance of recording (expected) normal
outbursts. It is far better to announce at the suspected level, rather
than later submissions after later announcement of the outburst...
There is a good example of a (likely) false alarm in AAVSO News Flash
No. 56, upon which I made a negative follow-up observation (vsnet-alert
538, see
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/alert0/msg00538.html ).
Without this (even false) announcement, such a single sighting could have
left no scientific value. After this announcement and observation, we
can firmly say there was either no outburst at all, or the outburst faded
unprecedentedly rapidly. Knowing recent short outbursts of HT Cam (and
possibly in other systems), rapid announcements even at unconfirmed level
is getting progressively important.

It is not you responsibility. Your selection was perfect; relaying to
alert and campaign lists was on my decision, considering the potential
importance of the phenomenon (if real).
