Dear SN watchers, According to IAUC 7463, SN 2000cx in NGC 524 turned out to be of a peculiar type Ia SN, like SN 1991T. SN 1991T was nearly one magnitude brighter than the typical SNeIa at the maximum light. Such bright SNeIa has been observed in the late type (spiral or irregular) galaxies, besides NGC 524 is S0 (early) galaxy. SN 2000cx is the first-ever example of bright SNeIa in the early-type galaxy. It is reported that on July 23 UT, the spectrum of SN 2000cx resembles to that of SN 1991T shortly (~3 days) before the maximum. Further observation with any technique are highly encouraged, as noted in IAUC. Sincerely Yours, Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan yamaoka@rc.kyushu-u.ac.jp
