Re: [vsnet-chat 3126] RX Com
Referring to PZ 22, 421 (Osminkin and Yu), the true RX Com lies a little
far from the previously cataloged position. The field looks blank (or
chart distorted) on USNO. The position of the plotted object is close
to 12h 59m 05s +15o 08',9 (J2000.0). This brings the object still far
from the RXS-F source. However, we must then consider GSC 1450.338
125859.71 +151121.1 (mag 12.6), which was proposed as the counterpart of
RX Com, is missing on this chart (not very infrequent on PZ charts...).
Would someone able to check the original discovery article?
Mukai et al. (1990) in MNRAS 245, 385 observed GSC 1450.338 and its
close companion. If the above identification (blank on POSS) is correct,
the classification of the object may deserve reconsideration.
