G'day all,
I have finally had a chance to read a month's worth of my email and note
the recent messages about EsB 365.
I announced this variable on vsnet back in 1996 and a quick search of "EsB
365" will turn up numerous messages since then. Personally I would be
surprised if I prove to be the discoverer of its variability, because it
is a well-known object to southern observers.
The AAVSO seem to have lost the prelim chart I uploaded to them in 1996;
if you want one you can get a GIF image chart from my new webserver at:
http://198.142.100.192/astronomy/esb365.zip.
Having myself witnessed this star fade to below 12th magnitude, and
having failed to uncover a definite period after years of observation,
I am inclined to regard it as an RCB type. However, I'm sympathetic to
the idea that the "RCB" class may include several species of objects;
some of which tend towards RV or other classes.
Further discussion (and Observations!) are encouraged.
cheers,
Fraser Farrell
