The star Sebastian asks about is GSC 8659-0702 = CPD-58 4492 (which will be the preferred name) = CoD-58 4730. It was recorded in a pointed ROSAT observation by Park & Finley (1996 AJ 112,693) as a possible T Tauri-type star, and is apparently a fairly active x-ray source. Thus the magnitude discrepancies may in fact result from actual variability in the star. The paper just cited gives no observations in the visible, so again it looks as though new observations will have to be made to test this conjecture. \Brian
