[vsnet-chat 2732] Pre discovery image of 1999gs

NGC 4725 is a farily nearby galaxy, and when 1999gs was discovered in
this galaxy at the end if 1999, it caused a bit of excitement.

However, because of it's proximity to the sun, not that many people
were looking at NGC 4725, so 1999gs was not found until it's late
stages. It may have been much brighter earlier, but we had no
way of knowing.

I was recently sent a Pre-discovery image of 1999gs, taken by
Marco Migliardi on December 23.21 1999, as part of the
<a href="http://vsnet.sunrise.it/associazioni/aac/";
target="_top">CROSS</a> search. This image was taken a full 5
days before the discovery.
