Ah, the answer arises out of the muddle.
The star in question in my image is at
129.51798500 -14.63442800 10.961 0.990
or
08:38:04.32 -14:38:03.9 J2000
My centering was based on vsnet-chat 2567, where coordinates of
08:38:04 -14:38.3 (1950)
were given. I, in my confused mental state, did not
notice the different equinox. No wonder! As luck would
have it, a 10th magnitude reddish star lies at the J2000
'equivalent' coordinates.
So, bottom line -- ignore the nsv4189 .dat file I posted,
and I'll get new data on the next clear night.
