Dear Taichi and all,
periodically VSNET-ALERT becomes very
thick with messages which are not alerts in any conceivable way, and I
wonder wether this is really a good thing. For instance postings with
appended datasets should be sent to VSNET-OBS, shouldn't they? People having
problems with software should be posting to VSNET-CHAT presumably, and many
of the recent messages on VSNET-ALERT could not be considered 'alerts' of
any kind, unless one chooses to count announcements of fine weather, or
preliminary analysis of some datapoints etc. I think it would be best to
confine postings to the specific VSNET group pertinent to the subject of
posting, else the value of VSNET-ALERT be eroded.
Are there any other viewpoints on this subject out there?
Cheers
Paul Warhurst
