[vsnet-chat 2372] Re: Further on NGC 495 classification

     A list of high-weight paradigms is given in Buta et al. (1994 AJ 107,118)
along with systematic corrections and weights for the main sources of galaxy
types that went in to the RC3. You may also wish to have a look at a
competitive visual/machine classification test by Naim et al. in 1995
MNRAS 274,1107 and a shorter report by the same authors in Science 267,859.
There's also an assessment of the van den Bergh "DDO" luminosity classes
(the Roman numerals after the Hubble type) by Odewahn and de Vaucouleurs
(1992 ApJ Suppl 83,65).
     Of the specific galaxies you mention, the 1994 Buta et al. paper
gives (as a "standard") for NGC 1300 SB(rs)bc; for NGC 1291 (R)SB(s)0/a;
NED gives for NGC 6744 the type SAB(r)bc---I would have thought it was around
Scd; and for NGC 613 also SB(rs)bc.
