Apparently the AAVSO chart dated 6/1997 also contains a bogus comparison
sequence in this field---see the comments in Bruce Sumner's report in thi=
s
URL above.<<
Yes, point taken. Unfortunately the AAVSO preliminary charts that I trie=
d
to download seem to be corrupted, anyway they crash my (now rather
primitive) copy of Netscape. We are eagerly awaiting the promised charts=
CD-Rom on this side of the pond! I will try to take a look at the URL yo=
u
mention. =
The GSC comparison was taken from Megastar which I use to draw my charts,=
the particular star used here was GSC 3062:173 about 3.5mins NW of the
variable. When observed last night V844 was approximately equal to this
star so if we have a better mag, we can adjust the figure.
Most of the UK and Europe is smothered by cloud (has been for weeks) with=
only occasional breaks one of which I was lucky enough to grab last night=
. =
I do hope someone in the States or maybe Japan has been able to confirm t=
he
outburst.
Best regards
