Preliminary spectra [4nm/pixel] taken this morning [1999 Aug 22] of the host galaxy to SN1999dn indicates the galaxy core to be an emission object with prominent lines at ~6563A [H-alpha] and 5007A [OIII]. Spectra were not obtained in the hazy conditions of the assumed SN1999dn just south of the core and some two mags fainter.
