The type "NC" represents the GCVS classification. The type "NC" is
assigned for "very slow novae". If someone consults the GCVS and its
type explanation, it's not surprising he/she becomes convinced that PU Vul
is a nova.
+E represents the eclipsing nature. The deep fading in PU Vul is
considered (though there have been other explanations) as an eclipse.
But, if "NC" type objects are indeed novae, a question arises who made
the "nova discovery" of V1413 Aql?
