I presume all recent nova discoverers in Japan are amateurs. I have
heard Yamaoka-san has compiled a list of Japanese discoveries.

I have also heard the CBAT nova list is not complete. Although they
may have been corrected already, V2214 Oph was found missing. I have
learned V812 Cen is missing probably because it was not reported in IAUC.

Another potential problem of completing the nova list is the presence
of "symbiotic novae" or NC-type novae. The treatment of these "novae"
depends upon the author. Furthermore, Nova Sgr 1994 No. 1 was later
announced as a luminous red variable, whose nature is still under
discussion.
