The lack of any past observations of this UGZ: variable, together
with recent observations by Gary Poyner of a varying star near
the nominal position of EV Aqr, imply that EV Aqr has been
misidentified as a CV.
To assist observers monitor this variable, here is presented a
comparison star sequence based on field photometry obtained by
Arne Henden. The position given here for EV Aqr is of the varying
red star star observed by Poyner. This star is identical with GSC
0526-01562 and is the star identified by Tsesevich and Kazanasmas
(1971) as EV Aqr.
Kato [vsnet-id 86] mentions that the VSNET chart of EV Aqr (Nov 1995)
gave V=13.57 for this star and marks it as var?. This magnitude
appears to be accurate, as the magnitudes on the VSNET chart have
negligible zero point offset when compared to the sequence presented
here. Additionally the field photometry (three nights) used to derive
this sequence also confirms that the star here identified as EV Aqr
is indeed a red variable. It is quite possibly a SR variable.
