[vsnet-chat 2086] Re: Plotting light curves

Dear Arne and Taichi,
thanks for your comments about my post.

My CCD spends about 30 secs to download and save an image in full
resolution (765*510 pixels) and about 7 secs to do the same in mid res
(2*2 binning). On V603 Aql I was working in 2*2 binning, acquiring a new
frame every 15 seconds. The software automatically saves the pictures
and I can leave the instrument unattended. Unfortunately, to do so I
have to limit the integration time to max 10 secs (I have to try to
program the PEC feature of the mount). For stars fainter than V603 Aql I
have to change my strategy, using longer exposure times and using the
SBIG ST-7 autoguiding feature.

This consideration offers me another question: to perform aperture
photometry, can I work in the 3*3 binning mode (with a scale of
3"/pixel, each binned pixel 27*27 microns), or can this affect the
accuracy of the results? This to limit further the tracking problems.

All the best,
Gianluca
