[vsnet-chat 1962] Re: Correct identification of V735 Sgr?

Although Dr. Samus has perhaps looked into this one more carefully,
a look through the papers cited in SIMBAD indicates that the star identified
by Vogt & Bateson (17 59 52.0 -29 33 58 in USNO-A2.0) is not a dwarf nova.
Whether this star is the one intended by Luyten in his 1936 AN paper (which
gives only 1'-precision positions and no charts) is another question. The
rather small amplitude given by Luyten, however, suggests either it is not
a dwarf nova or has a close, bright companion that contaminated the
variations on his small-scale plates. I note that the Vogt & Bateson
candidate is the southeastern star of a close pair.
