Assuming that a burst actually took place (and I don't
place heavy weight on a single photographic plate, especially
since I haven't seen a print from that plate), and that
GM Sgr and the bursting object are coincident, one could
speculate that we are seeing a CV binary edge-on. This
would also assume that the 'compact' object is nearly the
same size as the object from which mass transfer is occurring,
pretty unlikely. However, like a lot of objects in the DWS
catalog, this one stands further observation. I'll take a
peek at it in May unless someone either looks at it earlier
or else comes up with further references that convince me
that observations are unwarranted.
