Brian mentioned about two weeks ago that the coordinates for CW Mon seemed to be discrepant between various sources, and that might indicate another case of a close companion to a CV. While he has subsequently informed me that he has another astrometric source, and that Joe Patterson has examined the field and found no companion, I took a BV set before I learned these details. I found no companion near the CV, and its magnitude/coordinates to be (using USNO-A2.0 as a reference): RA (J2000) DEC V B-V verr bverr 06:36:54.59 00:02:17.4 16.47 0.23 0.04 0.03 Brian gave: > source RA (2000) Dec >DWS97 6 36 54.53 +00 02 16.3 >USNO-A2.0 6 36 54.55 +00 02 17.7 >AC2000 6 36 54.47 +00 02 17.4 So it looks to me like DWS97 just has a coordinate error of an arcsec or so in Dec. Do you know if they used GSC1.0 or GSC1.2 for their reductions? I'm surprised AC2000 is off so far in RA. It is too bad the SDSS calibration fields miss this region. Arne
