Dear Colleagues,
I am just able to remember times when mirrors were
silvered rather than aluminized.
I just read a short news. I put here
a translation of some parts of it.
> Kultakeskus, Hameenlinna (Finland) together with Middlesex >university
have developed a new, non-fading silver alloy.
...
> The effective ingredient is germanium. Silver content
>has not changed. Markets are prospective among others in
>electronics industry... hitherto oxidization has been
>its problem.
I keep two thumbs up for this alloy, while my telescope
primary now has dark specks -needs recoating.
Regards,
Timo Kinnunen
