The possible variable near R UMi is given with B-V = 0.89 +/- 0.07 in
the Tycho catalogue, so evidently this is not an M-giant, as one might
suspect. Possibly an RS CVn-type of long period?
The star does have a "better" name than the Tycho/GSC number---it is
BD+72 739.
