G'day all, One simple way to distinguish between A1.0 and A2.0 stars: - for A1.0 stars, retain the existing designations (eg: USNO 1234.56789) - for A2.0 stars, use a version digit after "USNO" (eg: USNO2 1234.56789) This scheme easily extends to A3.0, 4.0, etc when they are released. A1.0 stars might also be designated by a version digit (eg: USNO1 1234.56789), but I think there are enough synonyms already for some stars! > It's a happy news to hear of a large number of 'new' stars. I wonder > how the CBAT will treat the formarly USNO-designated and announced variable > stars, such as USNO 1425.09823278. I hope the GCVS team could give some > permanent name before confusion occurs. cheers, Fraser Farrell http://vsnet.dove.net.au/~fraserf/ email: fraserf@dove.net.au traditional: PO Box 332, Christies Beach, SA 5165, Australia
