Dear Dr. Kato,
The GCVS team did not use to give any tentative designations. However,
we have come to an agreement with the IAU Circular people that, starting
from Jan. 1, 1999, we'll give, following their requests, FINAL designations
for interesting variables announced in the IAUC not waiting until the
next Namelist. This cannot be a common practice, each variable, in
principle, should wait for some time: corrections follow in rather many
cases. Moreover, our responsible staff member (E. Kazarovets) is currently
too overloaded with work and cannot start with the new approach until the
New Year. I understand and appreciate your point and really am going to
improve the situation; sorry I cannot do it right now.
