[vsnet-chat 1333] More on all-sky photometry file

Further to my recent note about a collection of faint stars with (mostly)
published BVRI photometry, Michael Richmond (mwrsps@rit.edu) has provided
some useful 'products' based on the list. All-sky plots of the distribution of
the stars in both equal-area and rectangular projections can be found at:

http://a188-L009.rit.edu/tass/catalogs/catalogs.html#loneos

http://a188-L009.rit.edu/tass/catalogs/loneos_radec.gif

These show that there are only a few large areas outside the Milky Way that
lack some sort of photometric reference stars. Thus most wide-field sky
patrols for variable stars, novae, asteroids, etc. will have some calibration
stars on nearly every image. As soon as we get some persistently-cloudy
weather in Flgstaff, I will have time to add in a large number of sequences for
the southern sky, and also fill in sequences along the Milky Way.
In addition, Michael has produced a version of the list suitable for many
types of automated analysis. This file includes reformatted names, RA/Dec
converted to decimal degrees, and gives the BVRI magnitudes explcitly rather
than as V magnitudes and colors. This modified file is available at:

http://a188-L009.rit.edu/tass/catalogs/loneos.cat

My thanks to Michael for generating this useful version of the file.

\Brian
