[vsnet-chat 1267] Ngc337a.fit

Dear VSNET members,

Hello. I am Seiichi Yoshida working on the MISAO Project. Now I
introduce you the examination result of Ngc337a.fit, which was in the
same directory with sn1998dn.fts introduced us in [vsnet 1561].

These data are automatically measured by the PIXY system, an automatic
image examination software, of the MISAO Project. Reference catalog is
USNO-A1.0 (V) [V=R+0.375(B-R)]. False data removal and identification
verification have been done by hand after all. For more information
about the project and the system, please see the URL:

http://vsnet.info.waseda.ac.jp/muraoka/members/seiichi/misao/

The output view of the PIXY system is available at:

http://vsnet.info.waseda.ac.jp/muraoka/members/seiichi/misao/tmp/vsnet/Ngc337a.gif

The supernova appeared far awary enough from the host galaxy NGC 337A
= MCG-01-03-065. Therefore, the system must have measure the position
precisely. The result is:

01h01m27s.0 -07o36'36" mag=16.1 x= 298.76 y= 263.24
  SN 1998dn in NGC 337A 1h01m27s.08 - 7o36'36".7 15.8 mag type:II Aug. 19 BAO Supernova Survey

But the global accuracy is not so good. The position error became
larger than the pixel size. So the difference between the measured
position of the supernova and the position in IAUC is rather large as
1.5 arcsec.

There are two entries for the galaxy in the USNO-A1.0.
