IAUC 7006 tells that the apparent supernova has been discovered in SBc galaxy NGC 945 at Sep. 1.4 UT. The location is R.A. = 2h28m35s.72, Decl. = -10o32'59".8 (2000.0), which is about 23" west and 40" south from the center of the host galaxy. It is on the southwestern outside arm. NGC 945 makes a pair with SBc galaxy NGC 948. The brighter one on southwest is the host galaxy. The new star was not seen in the image taken on Aug. 23.4, then appeared as a hint in the prediscovery image taken on Aug 28.4. On the discovery image (Sept. 1.4) it was about 17.7 mag (unfiltered CCD), and on Sept. 2.5 it has rised to about 17.3 mag. It would be in the rising phase still now. The typical SNeIa at this distance is expected to reach 15.8 mag at its maximam without absorption or so. Although it would not become so bright, continuous photometry is encouraged. Sincerely Yours, Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan yamaoka@rc.kyushu-u.ac.jp
