[vsnet-chat 1064] Re: CK Ori etc. (Lindberg)

Greetings, All,

Since so much of VS Chat lately has been about this star I got out the
catalogue and looked it up. A nice bright SR star of the sort I do some pep
on! But as someone said the K2III colour is a bit yellow for the amplitude
although a nice regular SR star, T Centauri, is quoted by GCVS as K0-M4II.
All of the SR stars with respectable amplitudes (more than a few tenths)
seem to be supergiants, MK class I, or at least bright giants, class II. So
if the MK class is correct at III it's unlikely that the variations are
more than 2-3%. I notice the
'e' for an emission line observation in the GCVS - which usually indicates
reasonable amplitude of variation - is tagged as doubtful. Whilst most SR
stars have flat periods when the variations are quite small this doesn't
seem to be the case here. We'll add it to the pep list for the coming
summer and see if there is any variation.

Regards,
Stan
