Hi all,
I'm really astonished by the discussions on SV Sge, published on vsnet-chat
lately, and more precisely by the expressions used by Marc Biesmans in his
email. I believe Lasse is right in saying that this isn't at a level of what
we expect from an Internet chat medium.
I too want to give some background information. I got a phone call from Marc
Biesmans, about two weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. He asked me to make a
couple of CCD images of SV Sge, arguing there was "something" wrong with
observations he had seen on vsnet lately. Since I knew there would be a
little "danger" in just executing his request like that, I asked for some
explanation. Once it became obvious to me that there was a deeper reason for
having these images, and that basically the whole issue could evolve into an
attack against experienced visual observers, I simply decided not to join
his game. I learned, afterwards, from Paul Van Cauteren that he had reacted
in a similar way, on the same request from Marc Biesmans.
I'm really ashamed to be a Belgian amateur on this occasion. In name of all
members of the Belgian Variable Star section, I formally want to apologize
to Gary Poyner and Gene Hanson. Don't think were all the same over here.
Keep up your excellent visual work !!!
