  Taking this value, the expected maxima may be

SN Ia: 17.0
SN II: 19.0

  Taking a RV of typical cluster members (~14000 km/s) the maximum
becomes

SN Ia: 18.0
SN II: 20.0

  The both magnitudes are well below the observed maximum of CE UMa
(15.5).  So I presume this variable is a dwarf nova.
