Greetings, All,

Contrary to South Australia the north of New Zealand has been unusually
clear, which embarrasses me as I've been unable to use the 40-50 clear
nights in the past two months. And two weeks without rain in August in this
part of the country is hard to believe. But Auckland was wet for the
eclipse - I was down there for a couple of days and most of the astronomy
was done on the computer. I've been using a nice programme called PERIOD96
to look for multiple periods in several stars - it works well, but also
reveals some limitations in the observing. As always, we should have more
data!

Regards,
Stan Walker
