Thanks a bunch for the introductory.

Well, can't hurt, can it:)?

The paper was accepted by New Astronomy (so quickly!) and will be
published on-line very soon. And as it turned out that, according
to New Astronomy's regulations, Kris Davidson cannot make a
preprint available to anyone. So we all (well, you all) have to wait
and see...I apologize about the false information I gave you in
the previous message.

IAUC is a non-refereed article, so it won't count very much,
unfortunately. We are working on something else now (which explains
why I am replying to your message so late!).
Anyway, it can hurt anyone by keep observing Eta Carinae, hopefully
with CCD or gadgets like that. Experienced human eyes may do the job,
too -- though we may want to be very careful about that -- and surely
that's the easiest way to find out when something really catastrophic
occurs to Eta (although we ultimately are not free of false alerms).
So I hope people in the southern hemisphere would have a good time
hunting Eta Car there.
Cheers,
Bish
