Hi observers and chatters,
U Munari has forwarded a very strong SN candidate in Draco C-1,
a system with a carbon star in the giant phase and a profusily
dining WD with a mass already close to the Ch limit. Probably C-1
will show indigestive fits and trembles and do other decorative
things well before going bang. Something to watch for the
majority in the North. .
We in the South have to satisfy ourselves by adding RX J2353.0
-3852 to our program, a suspected UGWZ and probable candidate
for the TOAD list. It is not a SN candidate but could provide lots
of negative reporting in the future. Unfortunately its season as an
observing target runs out soon.
As far my own SN prediction is concerned I agree with Fraser F in
that we will have to study faint spots on plate records to trace
back the progenitor of the next SN.
And especially for FF wrt SN 1987: do you think that the locals (in
LMC) will ever trace the remnants of 'our' SN 1987?
Best regards and happy viewing/chatting,
Berto Monard,
Pretoria
